I'm not sure how many days of NaBloPoMo will be fulfilled by memes here, but here is the first one. It's a music meme, of sorts, from the lovely Meme Queen herself, Tense Teacher.
Reminds you of an ex-lover: I think I gotta go with "No One Is To Blame" by Howard Jones. Love the song, but it's just so damn tragic.
Reminds you of an ex-friend: "Fingerprints of God," by Steven Curtis Chapman. Although, "ex-friend" makes it sound like someone with whom I had a huge fight and to whom I never spoke again, when in fact it's a friend from high school with whom I lost touch after graduation. She had the album from which this song came, and I loved the song from the first time she let me listen to it. So she loaned me the CD and I fell in love with the whole album (Speechless). I kept it so long that by the time I said, "Oh, I should give you the CD back," she told me, "Nah, you can keep it. I bought a new one."
Makes you cry: "Wintersong" by Sarah McLachlan. Oh, the painful memories, the bittersweet and heartwrenching associations with that song. "I lie awake and try to recall how your body felt beside me... Oh, I miss you now, my love. Merry Christmas..."
Makes you laugh: Any of the "Bud Light Real Men of Genius" commercial songs. AWESOME.
You never want to hear again: I honestly can't think of one for this. I suppose that's good, though, because if I thought of one, I'd probably get it stuck in my head and then I would be PISSED.
Sums up your teenage years: "Drama Queen (That Girl)" by Lindsay Lohan. Yeah, that was me - total drama queen. Who of you is actually surprised by that?
You want to get married to: Well, I want to walk down the aisle to the "Glasgow Love Theme" from Love, Actually. I think I'd like my first dance to "Fly" by Sara Groves. I also love - and therefore would consider putting somewhere in the ceremony or reception - "Build" by Nichole Nordeman, and "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman. Yes, pretty much all my favorite songs about marriage come from Christian artists.
Songs that make you want to "get it on": It seems like the expected answer would be "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye, huh? Actually, though, I've always had some sort of pull to the song "Come a Little Closer" by Dierks Bentley. Damn, that song is just sexy.
You like to wake up to: "Walkin' on Sunshine" by... um... (looking it up on Google)... Katrina and the Waves. What a fun, boppin-and-hoppin kind of song.
You like out of your parents' collection: Not much that I don't like from my folks, actually. I credit my dad for my love of a great many classic rock bands and songs, and my mom for cheesy lite rock.
Wouldn't know about if it weren't for a friend: "Run" by Leona Lewis. What a fab rendition of that song. So powerful, and great fun for singing along in the car.
You want at your funeral: I think I would want "He's Always Been Faithful" by Sara Groves. It's a great song about God's faithfulness in the face of anything and everything that might come up. I think I would want those grieving for me (I'm assuming there will be at least a few) to hear that kind of message after my death.
Anyone want to play? Feel free to steal the meme and share your thoughts too!
