The Second Annual Month o' Shoes

Who remembers LaBloShoeMo? Anyone? Anyone?

Well, for those who don't, let's recap: In November of last year, Flickr jumped on the acronym bandwagon (a la NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo) with NaBloShoeMo - National Blogging Shoe Month. The premise was to post a picture a day of - what else? - shoes. You can imagine that a shoe-lover like myself would have been quite keen on this idea.

Unfortunately, you might remember that last November was a tough time for me. I wasn't ready just then to jump into something as frivolous as a month of shoes, so I held back. Those were sad times, when even the idea of shoes couldn't cheer me up.

But by December, I was ready to try something new, something a little brighter to cheer my days. So, since I was too late for National Blogging Shoe Month, I created Lara's Blogging Shoe Month - LaBloShoeMo. And the rest is history: I became known as "that girl who's always buying new shoes" and people started coming to me for advice whenever they needed to go shoe shopping. Woot!

Well, it's almost December, and that means it's almost time for LaBloShoeMo, version 2.0. Unfortunately, this year, it's coming on the heels of daily posting for NaBloPoMo, which means I'm not so eager to post shoes every day - I'm not so eager to post anything every day. But I will be adding shoe pics to my posts, so that you can all "Oooh!" and "Aaah!" over my fabulous fashion sense.

And, as a special bonus, you are all invited to join me! You don't have to post every day if you don't want to - you could just do one dedicated post to all your shoes at once if that's what strikes your fancy. I'm even going to make adorable badges for you to post if there is sufficient interest, so let me know.

Who's in?

-----------------------------------

In non-shoe-related news, I'm back home, safe and sound, and the kitten is already asleep in my lap. I had an interview tonight with a new family, so hopefully some good news will be forthcoming on the job front. And The Cold That Would Not Die continues to wreak havoc on my sinuses, but I am confident that ultimately I will be victorious.

Ah, good old shoe memories .. can you believe that was a YEAR ago???? How incredible is that! ;) We're getting old, my dear.

I won't be participating this year, though. My shoes are already packed up in boxes, because I'm a good little mover! Will be anticipating yours, though!

"it's coming on the heels of daily posting for NaBloPoMo" - I'm putting my foot down, sticking the boot in, and socking it to your shameful punnage young lady.

I currently have access to a grand total of 3 pairs of shoes. Surely i qualify for some sort of government handout or something?

Please give generously to Shoes-for-poor-nerds-2007. 90c in every dollar you donate will go directly towards eradicating the shoelly-challenged dark underbelly of this otherwise bootifull world.

(The 10c will go towards that polish stuff they sell with the shoes to prevent water damage. I think I have more jars of that stuff than I do shoes.)

I didn't get the shoe gene. Nope. I have probably six pairs total - a couple of sets of sneakers (I am a fitness instructor, after all) and some Land's End all-weather mocs in two different colors. I bought a pair of low-low heels for a wedding last year, but that's about it. Pathetic, I know.

I DID, however, get a mutation of the shoe gene called the BOOK gene. I could post a book a day for a couple of YEARS...

I will spare the blogging world. No shoes from me! (Actually I only own two pairs for summer and two pairs for winter...) I know, I could be burnt at the stake for this!

I can probably do this. I did see a blog that devoted to shoes this month that was HORRIBLE. Like why on earth do you subject your feet to such ugly shoes?! So I need a fix of cute shoes! Yeah!

Can I do a shoe every Friday? I would love to join you if so.

Thanks!

Are you kidding me? Shoe pictures? I am going to be so jealous, and wishing I had a job so I could buy some myself. Seriously, this is killing me. Atleast when I'm a real teacher I will be making money for doing it not PAYING to do it. SIGH

I'll join in! I don't have a month worth of shoes, but I'll also be leaving over Christmas and won't have computer access, so it should work out perfectly.

"Unfortunately, this year, it's coming on the heels of daily posting for NaBloPoMo"

Was the pun ("heels" when discussing shoes) intentional?

Lara said...

pun police - no, not intentional. not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

De-lurking: Yes! I'm all about this... though I'm not sure if I have 31 pairs of shoes. Good excuse to buy more, right? I would love a cute little badge to put on my blog.

Then you're charged with involuntary pun slaughter.

(Damn, I think I should be, too. Or maybe even 2nd degree.)

Anonymous said...

I think I meant 1st degree there. Maybe I'll just take the 5th and go to bed.
