For years when I was younger (like, the teenage years or so), I couldn't stop thinking my mom was 39. Something about that number, I'm not sure what, just stuck with me. It might be because we threw a big surprise party for her 39th birthday, and the general ado about the whole thing emblazoned the number on my brain. Whatever it was, people would ask how old she was and I'd always be like, "Thirty-nine. ... No, wait... " And then I would have to do some math and realize that, holy crap! I was off by four... nine... thirteen years.
Now, I think it's not so bad. I know how old she really is, but I like wishing her a happy 39th birthday anyway. So a very happy 39th birthday to my beautiful mother - I love you, Mom, and I always will, even when you're... 39.

My grandpa liked to give his age in relation to his 35th birthday. So, this year he's going to be celebrating the 55th anniversary of his 35th birthday.
Don't know why I put that in the past tense. My grandpa still likes to do that. :)

My friends and I like to refer to our birthdays as the "X" anniversary of our 21st birthday. That was the one that counted, y'know?

Wow, I always thought I was crazy for wanting to say my mom was 35. Also, my brother will forever be 6 years old in my brain, even though he's 21.
