Petticoat Junction

As part of my recent show, I had a very fast costume change. And when I say "very fast," I mean going from this:

to this:

in about 30 seconds.

Over the weekend before the show, I kept working through different ways to speed up the change. How should I best set up my petticoats? What was the quickest way to fasten my gown? Would I need two separate helpers, or could one person do it alone? Aussie Boy was kind enough to help me practice, and we were able to slowly whittle the time down.

After all this practice, I decided I was too lazy to bunch up the petticoats and put them away, so I left them standing in the living room. Wow, was that a good move. Apparently, petticoats are much more fun than I have ever realized...

In other cat news, Nora gave me a thorough face-washing the other day. It was a nice way to wake up at the leisurely hour of 1:00pm. It's her way of showing she loves me, and I lay there with a smile on my face while she groomed.

Eventually she got bored - as cats are wont to do - and wandered away. After about ten more minutes of decadent lounging, I got up and wandered towards the kitchen for some breakfast. As I passed through the living room, I saw Nora sitting in the corner, one leg stretched out beside her and one leg reaching up towards the ceiling. Her face? Squarely planted in her butt, now giving it a through grooming.

She looked up as I stopped and stared. "What?" she seemed to say.

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously and wondered how many times she had done those two acts in the reverse order...

Now I can call you buttface!

No point in ever buying cats actual cat toys; they always prefer petticoats and boxes and bottle caps.

Cats are so weird. They really are.
And I know what you mean about the cleaning thing. That's why the cats never give me "kisses" on my face. The arm will do, thank you very much.

dancing dragon - yeah, biff was off-stage holding my gown and petticoats at the ready, so that i could just strip off the regency gown and dive into the victorian. it was a feat of engineering, i'm telling you.

lala - ha. ha. ha. very funny, kid.

tense teacher - it's so true. they adore the little plastic ring that comes off the milk cartons. and twisty ties. and champagne corks. but their toys? meh.

betsy - i like the kisses on my face, though. i'm just trying not to think about it too much...

nutmeg - yes, he was quite a sport to help me get dressed and undressed over and over and over again. nothing in that for him, right? ;)

sassy - yes! costume changing should be a new event!

mrs. chicky - as always, don'tcha know? :-P

Nutmeg don't listen to her. I was only helping her put the gown ON. She's the one who kept taking it back off again. I still only have eyes for you ;-)
