Because of that, and because I know the blogosphere tends to slow down a bit on the weekends anyway, I offer you not my words, but the words of others. Quotes, song lyrics, etc. that have popped up and struck me in some way over the past few days or weeks. Maybe they made me laugh. Maybe they made me cry. Maybe they made me stop and think, “I hear THAT.” But for whatever reason, these things have gotten into my head lately:
"Do you see any of my students falling in love with me? No. And do you know why? Because people don't fall in love with people who make them want to crap their pants." -
“Forgive? Sounds good. Forget? I’m not sure I could. They say time heals everything, but I’m still waiting. I’m through with doubt – there’s nothing left to figure out. I’ve paid the price, and I’m still paying. … It’s too late to make it right – I probably wouldn’t if I could. ‘Cause I’m mad as hell, can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should.” -
“I am tired of a life full of could-have-beens. I build as many bridges as I burn.” - Lilit (To which I responded: “My bridge count is coming out even, too. Or maybe it’s even coming out uneven - somehow I burn more than I build. Maybe that means I’m burning other people’s bridges, too.”)
“And this is how I see you: In the snow on Christmas morning, love and happiness surround you as you throw your arms up to the sky. I keep this moment by and by. Oh, I miss you now…” - Sarah Maclachlan, “Wintersong”
“Hallmark poems for the dead
‘Roses are red, and you're dead so why am I even sending you this’” - Mom101, telling us about her wayward Googlers
“And if you’re faced with a choice and you have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.” - Rascal Flatts, “My Wish”
“How did you get the churro to sign its name?” - Ladybug (After which I started coming up with words the churro might have shared with us: “K.I.T.! *heart* Churro” or “Churro, XOXO.”)
“Well, you do what you do and you pay for your sins. And there’s no such thing as ‘what might have been’ – that’s a waste of time. It’ll drive you out of your mind.” - Tim McGraw, “Red Rag Top”
“See, that’s what’s great about you, Lara – you paint your toenails while watching football.” - Tali
“You don’t know me – you don’t wear my chains. … I think I’ll go to
I think those are the highlights of the recent weeks. Oh, and one more thing: e.e. cummings. LOTS of e.e. cummings.

Day 10 of LaBloShoeMo: Tan Flip-Flops
For a lazy day, I offer you some lazy shoes. I can’t actually really wear these today, as its been raining lately, but that’s okay. These are really comfortable – I know, you’re thinking, “Well, duh, they’re flip-flops. How uncomfortable could they be?” But I’ll tell you something – some flip-flops can be pretty darn uncomfortable. These, however, are not – they are soft and supportive and smooth like butter. And cute, too, right? I can’t wait for flip-flop weather to return…

WOOHOO!!!
OMG girl! You watch Gilmore Girls too!! We're gonna have to strap OP to a chair with toothpicks in his eye (like in A Clockwork Orange) and make him watch with us. And the country music.... aside from the Dixie Chicks.... totally rock my world. Who knew we had so many amazing interests in common!
Oh and I second the funny cats link idea.
- Charcoal
Very cute. But yeah, don't wear them in the rain...flip flops are slippery when wet. :)
sassy - um, no. no rainbows. sorry. i'm slightly ashamed to admit, however, i did have a pair of black flip-flops during my last couple years of high school that had rainbows along the sides. they started following apart, though, so they got trashed eventually. probably for the best.
foot admirer - riiiiight...
OP - hey, foot admirer's just living up to his name. leave the guy alone. and, as to the cats, i did. :)
Charcoal - yay gilmore girls! yay country music! yay OP with toothpicks in his eyes! oh, wait, not that last one...
aimee - so true! i hate that feeling, of slipping around in flip-flops. i've had to go through it on occasions where the weather seems okay in the morning, and by the time i get home i'm seriously regretting my choice of footwear...
no no, not like the graphic.... rainbows is a brand. those look like rainbows!
sassy - ha! shows how clueless i am. no, they're airwalks. man, that reminds me of way back in middle school when all the cool kids had airwalk sneakers. i wanted them so badly. never got them, though - too expensive. :(
