The Best Thing About November?

Is that it's almost December.

I love Christmas. I love everything about the whole "holiday season" and all of its hullabaloo. It's not time yet, though, no matter how much I love it all. Christmas music is not appropriate until AFTER Thanksgiving, much as I enjoy those jolly jingle bells.

Still, though, I was inexplicably pleased to walk into Starbucks this afternoon - a cold, gray, rainy afternoon - order my warm beverage, and see it poured into a red and white holiday cup.

Soon, sooner than we think, the air will be thick with the sounds of "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street." And I will be SO happy.

What's your favorite thing about November?

I love that November isn't July. I also love Melbourne Cup Day - where else in the world would you have a public holiday to celebrate a horse race. Hooray for Melbourne.

I love the smells of November....of the leaves and the first wood burning stoves being fired up....and the weather turning colder and crisper so that the air feels clean....

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. Everyone in my family has a special pair of pajama pants just for this occasion. We can relax around the dinner table in our fleece or flannel pants without the pressure of time, or giving, or any of the chaos of Christmas.

I'm with Clair. Family holiday with no shopping chaos.

Family.

I've been negative about winter, but I think I need to be more positive about it! :)

Everyone knows the best part about November is my birthday. It's like Christmas in November!

That is exactly how I felt today.
When I ordered my first ginger-snap latte of the season.

Thank god for that.

Holiday drinks at Starbucks, Christmas planning, the thought of Thanksgiving dinner. I really do love Christmas too.

Stepping on the leaves that have fallen on the ground. Smell of fireplaces burning. And Thanksgiving. In the past this has always been my favorite holiday of the year. This year might be a little different but at least I'm still with the majority of my family to get through it.
