Some Surprises Are Nice; Others, Less So

I believe three out of the five mornings last week I encountered the exact same unpleasant surprise. It went something like this:

What should I wear today? Hmmm...

I know! My navy pants with a long-sleeved white shirt and a gray sweater vest. That'll be nice.

*Puts on pants and tries to zip them up*

They won't zip! I couldn't have gained that much weight, could I?

*Puts on another pair of pants... which also won't zip*

Shit.

(Sorry, but that was honestly the thought that went through my mind.)

Yep, I officially got too fat to fit into most of my pants. How's that for a depressing thought? Maybe I should bring it up at my group therapy tomorrow and see if they have any pleasant events to help offset it.

For the time being, though, I clearly needed to buy some new pants, because Fat Fat the Water Rat (aka ME) was going to have to have something to wear to work for the forseeable fat future. Off, then, to the mall. Unfortunately, the very fact that I was at the mall because I got too fat to fit into my pants depressed me so much that I spent four hours and nine hundred dollars trying to cheer myself up.

Successful shopping trip? It most certainly was...

For the stores.

I circulated through two pair of pants and a pair of jeans for 5 months last year because everything else was too small and I REFUSED to buy new clothes. You, clearly, have a lot more fashion self respect than I do.

Dancing is a pleasant event that might offset this temporary problem.

My favorite character in The Wind in the Willows is the Water Rat. :)

I've been playing the game Clair mentioned for a few months - two pairs of jeans, one pair of corduroys - and a couple skirts - that barely fit. Ugh. Finally hit the thrift stores and found...lots of blouses and knit tops.

Yeah. It's like that.

I am desperately trying to lose the rest of my baby weight to get into my old clothes, and I am REFUSING to buy new ones. This means I have roughly three or four outfits.

I've been thinking I might have to give in soon.

Oy. I wish I could say I didn't know what that felt like. Sigh-h-h. I feel ya. Unfortunately I now dress to cover, not to look cute. I'm pretty sure you won't go that direction. Besides - you'll still be adorable no matter what. You really are so cute!
